Yemen
The reputed home of the Queen of Sheba, Yemen sits at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Operation Mercy began working in Yemen under the name MERCYemen in 2004, focusing on poverty reduction and health education. We have successfully implemented various community development projects gaining the trust of local people and government officials.

Water for All is a multi-faceted project in the area of water supply and sanitation. Rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, water filtration and the safe disposal of waste water are all key aspects of this project to use the limited available water in the most efficient way possible.

Yemen is the poorest country in the Arab world with unemployment hovering at 35 percent. The Poverty Reduction Pilot Project aims to address the economic crisis in a village community outside Taiz, Yemen by focusing on income generation through two avenues; revolving goat loans and small business loans, both complimented with financial training and follow up visitations.
