Elkheer is one of the evening teachers at our younger boys centre in Sudan. He has been with us for about 8 months and in that time has made quite an impact on everyone around. Elkheer is brilliant with the boys—patient and caring as well as incredibly helpful to the rest of the staff. He teaches the boys special songs and stories as well as the 'rainstorm clap' (their current favorite thing to do whenever they get a chance to). Elkheer studied English and university and serves as a wonderful translator for the non-native Arabic speakers. Elkheer is also trained in first aid and can often be found patching boys up and treating their illnesses. And not just for the boys living at the centre. From time to time kids that know the centre that are still living on the street will come by and Elkheer treats them as well.
He is 26 and has been married for 2 years. His lovely wife often comes to the centre to visit with the staff and boys. Elkheer is also very involved with the church and serves as secretary for the youth program. However he manages to have the time, I'm not sure, but in the mornings he also teaches Arabic to elementary students. He is a great blessing to the centre and we are so thankful to have him working with us!
